What Are CSCS Cards?


CSCS Cards provide proof that individuals working on construction sites have the right qualifications and experience to carry out their jobs.
CSCS Cards can be required to gain entry and to work on the majority of UK construction sites.
CSCS Cards come in different colours, which indicate various trades and the persons skills level. For example: to get a CSCS Green Card you must complete an online Health Safety & Awareness Course. To get a CSCS Blue Card you must have completed an NVQ level 2 or equivalent. To get a CSCS Gold Card you must have completed an NVQ level 3 or equivalent. What is the CITB Test?


The CITB Health, Safety and Environment (HS&E) test checks your knowledge of site safety, hazard awareness, and environmental practices. The test lasts 45 minutes and includes 50 multiple-choice questions. You’ll need 45 correct answers to pass. The test is available in three levels: Operatives, Specialists, and Managers & Professionals (MAP) — depending on your role in construction.

Passing the CITB test demonstrates your understanding of essential health and safety standards on site. It’s required before applying for a CSCS card, which proves your competence and qualifications to employers. Without a valid CITB test pass, you may be refused construction site access across the UK.
