The Managers and Professionals (MAP) CITB test is designed to test your aptitude and qualifications in the areas of work safety and health, as well as construction management. You will not be able to acquire a CSCS Black Card unless you pass the CITB Managers and Professionals test.
The HS&E test covers everything that is covered in the Blue Card “Operatives” test plus additional topics relevant to managers and construction professionals. The test is comprised of 50 questions that cover five areas of knowledge:
- Legal and management
- Health and welfare
- General safety
- High-risk activities
- Environment
Once the test starts you will have 45 minutes to answer the 50 questions.
The CITB MAP test, known as the CSCS Black Card test has behavioral case studies which are now used as a way to gauge the candidate's comprehension of basic health, safety and environmental issues, as well as how to behave safely while on the job site. Keep in mind too that CITB are constantly assessing the effectiveness of their tests which means that if you know someone who took the test recently, the questions they had to answer may be different than the ones you are presented with. The CSCS Black Card is valid for 5 years.
