CSCS Green Card Course FAQs

Who is this Green Card Online Course suitable for?
The Level 1 Health, Safety & Awareness Course is ideal for labourers and entry-level workers who need a CSCS Green Labourer Card to work on UK construction sites.
Why do I need to complete the Health, Safety & Awareness Course?
The CSCS Green Labourer card replaced the construction site operative (CSO) in 2014. This made completing a Level 1 Health, Safety and Awareness qualification mandatory to be able to get a CSCS Green Card. This was introduced to ensure all site workers had a minimum level of training through the Health, Safety and Awareness Qualification.
What’s the difference between the course and the CITB test?
The Level 1 Health & Safety course teaches you the knowledge you need to work safely on construction sites. The CITB Health, Safety & Environment Test assesses that knowledge. Successfully completing both is required before you can apply for a Green Labourer Card.
Can I complete the course entirely online?
Yes, you can. If you’d like to complete the Level 1 Health & Safety course online, get yourself booked in, and your login details for the online platform where you’ll complete the training will be sent to your email address.
How long does the CSCS Course take?
The CSCS Course can be completed in under 4 hours. You can stop and start the course as you wish.
Can I complete it on my mobile?
Yes, you can complete the course on your mobile. The short test will be on a laptop or PC.
What do I need to know about completing the course?

The Health, Safety and Awareness Course is accredited and will allow you to gain the Level 1 award in Health and Safety in a construction environment upon completion. This is an essential step in applying for a CSCS Green Operatives Card. Please note:

  • A unique email address is required to create an account.
  • A computer/laptop PC with a webcam, speaker, microphone and Google Chrome web browser that meets the minimum specifications is required to complete the course. The use of Safari as a browser or a Chromebook is NOT compatible with this course.

  • The exam can only be attempted following the completion of the entire course.
  • Candidates are required to present valid photo ID such as a passport, driving licence, or work-related card (photo + full name) prior to the exam.
  • Missed or failed exams will be subject to a re-booking fee of up to £60.
  • The course does not include either the CITB Health, Safety and Environment Test for Operatives or a CSCS card, which must be booked separately and is available on our website.

How long does it take to get the certificate for a CSCS Online Course?
Once you complete the CSCS Online Course, the certification is usually sent to your email within 24 hours.
What should I do after passing the course?

Can I apply for a CSCS Green Card after completing the CSCS Card Online Course?
Yes, you can apply for a CSCS Green Card straight away after passing the CSCS Card Course (as long as you have already passed the CITB test).
Can I start work immediately after completing the course?
Completing the course alone is not enough to start working on a construction site. You’ll also need to pass the CITB Health, Safety & Environment Test, apply for your CSCS Green Card, and have a physical copy of it before you can start working on sites that require one.
Who can help me apply for my Green Card after completing the course?
Once you have obtained the necessary qualifications needed for your CSCS Green Card application, we can help you apply for the card. Once you apply, you will receive your card within 5 to 7 days. We always recommend you check your CSCS card status once it arrives to confirm its validity.
Do employers accept online Health & Safety qualifications?
Yes, provided the qualification is recognised and meets the requirements for a CSCS Green Labourer Card application.
Is there a free CITB online course?
No. While you may find free health and safety resources online, you’ll need to obtain a recognised qualification if you want it to count towards your Green Card application.
