To get a JIB-PMES card, you need to have the appropriate background in plumbing or mechanical engineering services, either through formal qualifications or proven on-site experience. Most applicants will need a relevant qualification such as an NVQ, or be enrolled on a recognised training route. If you’ve been working in the industry for years without qualifications, you may still be eligible through an experienced worker pathway that assesses your existing skills.
You’ll also need to pass the ECS Health, Safety & Environmental Assessment, which is a mandatory test covering general site safety and safe working practices. Once you’ve met these requirements, you can apply online through the ECS scheme by submitting your documents, ID, and photo. If you’re unsure which route you fall under or need help getting qualified first, Construction Certification can guide you through the process and help you secure your JIB-PMES card without unnecessary delays.
