How to Get a Skill Card

To get a SKILL Card, you first need to choose the right type of card for your job and meet the specific qualification and health & safety requirements. You then complete the application online by providing your details, proof of qualifications and a valid health and safety test result, and pay the card fee. Once your application is approved, you’ll receive your SKILL Card, which shows you meet industry standards and helps you access construction sites. How do I apply for a Green Card Skill Card?

Pass the required Health & Safety test - All SKILL Card require you to pass a recognised health and safety test (for example, the CITB Health, Safety & Environment test or equivalent) before you apply.

Choose the correct card and prepare your evidence - Make sure you select the Green (Mate) SKILL Card for basic site work and have copies of your qualifications and health & safety certificate ready

Buy your Green SKILLcard from Construction Certification - Once you have passed your test and have the required documents, you can process your Green SKILL card through Construction Certification, which will handle the application for you.
 Please note: you will need a copy of your relevant Health & Safety qualification certificate and your CITB Health, Safety & Environment test score report to complete your SKILLcard (Green Mate) application. Once you have completed the application process and received your SKILLcard, you will be eligible to work on construction sites across the UK. Your first Green SKILLcard is typically valid for 5 years.
