CITB Test Information
To get a CSCS Card you must complete a CITB Health, Safety and Environment test. The test takes 45 minutes. It is a multiple choice test with 50 questions. You must get 45 out of 50 to pass. The CITB test can be taken at over 150 test centres nationwide.

Go towards Gallowtree Gate, turn left into Halford Street and continue on crossing Charles Street. The Test Centre is on the left next to the NCP Car Park/Curve Theatre. The Test Centre is on the third floor.

What to Expect in the Test In Leicester
When you arrive, the staff on hand will check your ID, verify you are scheduled to take the test at that time, and then take a photo of you for security purposes. The test itself will take 45 minutes and will consist of 50 multiple-choice questions. When you finish you will be given your result certificate.
What to Take With You
The most important thing to take with you is an acceptable form of identification. No ID, no test. No exceptions. Valid IDs include a UK driving license or passport.

A Few Words About the Different CITB Tests
Virtually every significant construction site in the UK (and most construction companies) require workers to have valid CSCS Cards. To get a card you need to take the CITB safety, health and environment test. But there are different levels of CITB test, so which one should you take to get the card you want?
Currently, there are 3 levels of CITB test. They are:
- Operatives Test
- Operatives or Specialist Test
- Specialist, Managers or Professionals Test
Let’s look at the different levels and some of the cards they apply to.
Operatives Test Leicester
The Operatives Test is the base level CITB test and is given to those hoping to obtain a CSCS Red Card (Provisional), or those hoping to get a Green Card and work as a Labourer. Provisional Red Cards are only given to individuals who have never held any sort of CSCS Card before. While Green Cards are only given to those who have completed either the HSA one-day level 1 course or completed and passed the Health, Safety and Awareness Online Course
While the Operatives Test is the easiest of the CITB health, safety and environment tests it also has the highest failure rate. It is believed this is because people think it’s no big deal and they show up to take this CITB test in Leicester without studying. Don’t make that mistake.
Operatives or Specialist Test Leicester
If you are hoping to obtain a CSCS Blue Card (Skilled Worker), a Red Card (either Apprentice, Experienced Worker or Trainee), or a Gold Card, make sure you sign up for the Operatives or Specialist Test. This test is significantly more difficult than the standard Operatives Test so you would be well advised to engage in thorough revision in the days leading up to the test.
These cards also come with certain prerequisites attached. If you do not satisfy them you will not be issued a card, regardless of what your CITB test score is.
Specialist, Managers or Professionals Test Leicester
The highest level of CITB test is the Specialist, Managers or Professionals Test. This test is intended for those hoping to get a CSCS Black Card (Manager), A Red Card (Technical, Supervisory or Managers), or a White Card (Academically or Professionally Qualified Person).
Keep in mind that if you are trying to get a CSCS Card but it’s been more than 2 years since you took the relevant CITB test, you will need to be retested.
