CITB Test Information

To get a CSCS Card you must complete a CITB Health, Safety and Environment test. The test takes 45 minutes. It is a multiple choice test with 50 questions. You must get 45 out of 50 to pass. The CITB test can be taken at over 150 test centres nationwide. 

Brief directions

From the Coldharbour Lane bus stop walk south approximately 150m towards the Traffic Light Crossing. At these lights turn left into the Bristol Business Park which is through staggered gates. Follow the path onto the Avenue and follow this nearly to the end, then turn right onto the pathway in front of the building which will take you to The Gardens. Immediately opposite is the The Crescent, 340 is the 4th building on the Righthand side. Please note the site has parking for 20 cars- please do not park in neighbouring Car Parks

What to Expect in the Test
The process is very straightforward. Arrive at the Bristol Test Centre on time, show ID, sit for a security photo, and then take the test. There will be 50 multiple choice questions and you will have 45 minutes to answer them.

What to Take With You
The only thing you must have is a valid ID. That means either a UK driving license or a UK passport with both signature and photo.
You can still take the test if you don’t have either, but you will need to show 2 alternative forms of ID. These include a British Armed Forces ID or a Trade Union Card. For a full list of acceptable alternatives click here

To obtain a CSCS Blue Card (Skilled Worker) you must provide proof that you hold certification for an NVQ or SVQ level 2.
To obtain the CSCS Red Card (Apprentice) you will need proof of your apprenticeship.
To obtain the CSCS Red Card (Experienced Worker) you will need to be registered for the NVQ or SVQ Level 2 or higher.
To obtain a CSCS Red Card (Trainee) you must prove registration to an NVQ.
To obtain a CSCS Gold Card (Supervisory) you must have completed an NVQ/SVQ level 3 or 4.
To obtain a CSCS Gold Card (Advanced) you must have completed an NVQ level 3 or apprenticeship qualification.
Specialist, Managers or Professionals Test

To obtain a CSCS Black Card you must have completed an NVQ level 5, 6 or 7 or equivalent and held a level 4 qualification.
To obtain a CSCS Red Card (Technical, Supervisor, Managers) you must have registered for an NVQ or equivalent level 3 or higher.
To obtain a CSCS White Card (Academically Qualified Person) you must have completed construction-related degrees or qualifications such as HNDs, HNCs etc.
To obtain a CSCS White Card (Professionally Qualified Person) you must be a member of a CSCS professional body.
