This helps prevent on-the-job mishaps that endanger everyone's health and safety. You obtain a CSCS card by taking the CITB Health, Safety & Environment Test. How to Determine the Right CITB Test For YouHaving a CSCS Card is not legally required, but if you do not have one, you can forget about getting any significant work in the UK construction industry.
Every card has its own set of prerequisites, but there is one thing common to them all: you must take and pass the CITB health, safety and environment test in order to obtain any type of CSCS Card.
There are, however, 3 different levels of CITB test and more than a dozen types of CSCS Cards. So how do you know which test is right for the card you’re after? To clarify things for you we’ve created the following short guide that will help you determine which CITB test to sit for.
As we mentioned there are 3 levels of CITB test, they are:
- The Operatives Test
- The Specialist Test
- The Managers or Professionals Test
Let’s look at all 3. Operatives first.
The Operatives Test Cardiff
If you are hoping to obtain a Provisional Red Card in order to secure temporary work on a UK construction either for academic or professional reasons you will need to take the Operatives Test. Likewise, if you are hoping to get a CSCS Green Card to work as a construction labourer in the UK you will need to take the Operatives Test. Above we provided a link where you can purchase some quality revision aids for this test. We strongly recommend you do so.
The Specialist Test Cardiff
Those looking for a Blue Card (Skilled Workers), Red Card (Experienced Worker, Apprentice or Trainee), or a Gold Card (Supervisory) will need to take the Specialist Test. This is a more difficult test than the standard Operatives Test so you’ll need to spend time on revision beforehand.
The Managers or Professionals Test Cardiff
Anyone seeking a CSCS Black Card (Managerial), Red Card (Technical, Supervisory or Managerial), or White Card (Academic or Professional) in Cardiff will have to sit for the Managers or Professionals Test.
