CITB Test Information
To get a CSCS Card you must complete a CITB Health, Safety and Environment test. The test takes 45 minutes. It is a multiple choice test with 50 questions. You must get 45 out of 50 to pass. The CITB test can be taken at over 150 test centres nationwide.

The CSCS card is a way to verify that people working on construction sites have the appropriate knowledge and training. This helps prevent on-the-job mishaps that endanger everyone's health and safety. You obtain a CSCS card by taking the CITB Health, Safety & Environment Test. What to Expect in the Test
Upon arrival to take the CITB test, simply show your ID to the staff and have your photo taken (for security purposes). When testing begins, you will have 45 minutes to answer 50 multiple-choice questions. You will receive your results certificate once you complete the exam.
If you fail the exam, you may register to retake it three days after your first try. We also suggest that you buy reference materials to help you prepare for the retake exam.

What to Take With You
You must bring approved identification. If you do not have a valid ID, you cannot take the exam (no exceptions). The most common form of identification is a UK driver’s license or passport.
If you don’t have these forms of identification, you need to provide two alternative forms. These include your EU Country ID card, Trade Union Card, British Armed Forces Card, credit or debit card, National Insurance card, or the latest statements from your bank.

Which Test Should You Take?
No one is able to obtain a CSCS Card without first sitting for the appropriate level of CITB health, safety and environment test. You must take the appropriate test within 2 years of applying for your CSCS card. If it has been longer than that since you took the test, you will need to be retested before applying for the CSCS card.
The Different CITB Tests

About the Specialist, Managers or Professionals Test
If you hope to obtain a CSCS Black Card (Manager), CSCS Red Card (either Technical, Supervisory or Managers), or CSCS White Card (either Academically Qualified Person or Professionally Qualified Person), will need to sit for the Specialist, Managers or Professionals CITB test.
This is the most involved and difficult CITB test in Sheffield and is designed to ensure that people at the highest levels of the industry are fully qualified to hold the positions they do.
