The CSCS card is a way to verify that people working on construction sites have the appropriate knowledge and training. This helps prevent on-the-job mishaps that endanger everyone's health and safety. You obtain a CSCS card by taking the CITB Health, Safety & Environment Test. There are 150 CITB test centres nationwide including in Penzance.
What to Expect in the Test
Before you take the CITB exam, the staff must verify your identity and ensure that you take the exam on time. Then, you need to have your picture taken (for security purposes). The test consists of 50 multiple-choice questions and takes 45 minutes. Upon completion, you will receive your test results certificate.
If you fail the exam, you can register for the next exam three days after the first exam. We also recommend that you purchase study materials to help you prepare for the retake. You can find the revision material at
this link.
It is strongly recommended that you use these materials, especially if you fail on the first take. This dramatically increases the probability of obtaining a passing score. If you need to register to retake the exam, please click on
this link and provide the requested information.
What to Take With You
You must bring a valid ID on the day of the test. Otherwise, you will not be able to take the CITB exam. A valid proof of identity is your UK driving license or passport.
If you don’t have one of these IDs, you may bring alternate forms of identification. These include your Trade Union card, British Armed Forces card, EU Country ID, recent bank statement, National Insurance card, or your credit or debit card.
If you would like more information on allowed IDs, please click

What to Do Before Going to the Test Centre
We strongly recommend that you take the time to study for the test before you arrive on the test day. If you need help with revision material, you can find information
