This DSE (Display Screen Equipment) Awareness course explains how screen-based work can affect health and gives clear, practical steps to prevent long-term injury in UK construction and other workplaces.
• Defines what counts as DSE and who is considered a DSE user
• Explains health risks from poor setup: back, neck and shoulder pain, RSI, headaches and eye strain
• Shows how small issues build up over time and why they must not be accepted as ‘part of the job’
• Guides correct setup of chairs, screens, keyboards, mice and laptops for neutral posture
• Covers reducing glare, avoiding overreaching or hunching, and positioning equipment correctly
• Promotes micro-breaks, task variation and the 20-20-20 rule for eye care
