As a bricklayer, there are 3 main types of CSCS cards you can apply for: Green, Blue and Gold. There are also 2 more, Black and White, which are intended specifically for bricklaying specialists who have moved into managerial roles.
Green CSCS Card
This card is for general labourers who are perhaps just starting out as bricklayers or still learning their craft. Before taking a Green Card test, you will first need to obtain a relevant health and safety qualification, such as the RQF Level 1, SCQF Level 4/5 or NOCN certificates.
Blue CSCS Card
Skilled bricklayers can apply for the Blue CSCS card but they will need to hold a relevant NVQ/SVQ Level 2 qualification in order to do so.
Gold CSCS Card
If you normally work in a supervisory capacity and you hold NVQ/SVQ Level 3 certification for Occupational Work Supervision or an NVQ/SVQ Level 4 certificate for a relevant supervisory/technical area, you may wish to apply for a Gold CSCS card.
Black/White CSCS Cards
If you work in a managerial position and you have a degree or HND/HNC qualification, you could apply for a Black or White CSCS card.
