CSCS stands for “Construction Skills Certification Scheme”. This programme was introduced in 1995 to eliminate unqualified people from UK construction sites. Today, you stand no chance of advancing in the UK construction sector without a CSCS card. You can obtain one by taking the CITB Health, Safety & Environment Test. You can take your CITB test at the Barrow in Furness test centre.
What to Expect in the Test
The CITB test is very straightforward. Once you appear at your designated test site you will be asked to present an ID and sit for a security photo. As for the test; you will be given 45 minutes to answer 50 multiple choice questions and receive a results certificate when you finish.
What to Take With You
The only item you must have with you when you arrive at the test facility is a valid ID. Preferred IDs are either a UK driving license with a photo and signature or a UK passport with the same. If you cannot produce one of those you'll need to produce 2 acceptable alternatives.
Acceptable alternatives include a British Armed Forces card, a Work ID card, a National Insurance card, an EU Country card or a bank statement with your name and address on it. Remember: No ID, no Test. You can see a full list of acceptable alternative IDs
here.
What to do Before Going to the Test Centre
The vast majority of people who fail neglect to revise beforehand. Don’t be one of them. You can find a selection of revision aids
here.
