You will need at least two mandatory qualifications in order to apply for a CSCS Card. You will need one of CSCS’ approved qualifications, such as an NVQ Level 3 or higher in the correct discipline, or an approved apprenticeship/degree. These can be completed in college or university.
You will also need to take the mandatory CITB Managers and Professionals Health, Safety and Environment Test or CITB Specialist Supervisory Health, safety and environment test, whichever responds to the card you are pursuing. The result is valid for 2 years and you will need the score report for your card application. This can be completed at your local, CITB-approved test centre.
About the CITB Test for Surveyor Card
The CITB Health, Safety and Environment test is mandatory for anyone applying for a CSCS card. You must take the correct test type for your card and occupation. The CITB Specialist Supervisory Health, safety and environment test and CITB Managers and Professionals Health, Safety and Environment test both consist of 50 multiple-choice questions. The tests feature questions focused on basic health, safety and environmental construction topics, as well as specialist questions for managers/supervisors.
To pass the specialist supervisory test, you will need a score of 45/50, while passing the managers test will take a score of 46/50.
It is very important you revise in advance of your test, as according to statistics the majority of candidates who do not pass their CITB test are those who failed to prepare for the test with revision.
