This NVQ qualification is based on national occupational standards, ensuring that every learner gains the knowledge needed to handle non-hazardous waste removal efficiently while following productive working practices.
Whether you are currently employed or looking to advance in non-hazardous waste construction, this qualification provides formal recognition of your practical skills in removing non-hazardous waste while ensuring compliance with workplace safety regulations.
Additionally, achieving this nationally recognised standard demonstrates your ability to work within mandatory units covering workplace conforming regulations, storing resources correctly, and removing work area protection safely.

Our Level 2 NVQ qualification is designed for individuals currently working in non-hazardous waste removal within the construction industry. This includes:

  • Those seeking formal certification to meet regulated qualifications and workplace safety requirements
  • Industry managers looking to upskill their teams with a competence-based qualification
No formal prior learning is required to enrol, but candidates must provide workplace evidence to demonstrate their ability to carry out non-hazardous waste removal tasks effectively.

Understanding the different categories of non-hazardous waste is key to effective site management and ensuring compliance with waste disposal regulations. This NVQ covers handling:
  • General Waste – Non-recyclable materials such as packaging, plastics, and mixed site waste that require responsible disposal.
  • Recyclable Waste – Items like metal, paper, glass, and wood that can be reused to reduce environmental impact.
  • Inert Waste – Construction debris such as bricks, concrete, and ceramics that do not decompose or harm the environment.
  • Biodegradable Waste – Organic materials like timber and plant-based products that break down naturally over time.
Managing these waste types properly improves site safety, promotes productive working practices, and helps with storing resources efficiently.

Proper non-hazardous waste removal is essential for maintaining general health and safety on-site. Our NVQ teaches candidates how to follow best practices, including:
  • Sorting and Storing Resources Correctly – Keeping different waste types separate to simplify disposal and recycling.
  • Using Safety Equipment Properly – Ensuring compliance with workplace safety standards by wearing the right protective gear.
  • Following Workplace Conforming Procedures – Adhering to site-specific regulations to meet regulated qualifications for waste management.
  • Participating in Professional Discussion – Demonstrating knowledge needed through assessments and real-world experience.
By completing this NVQ, candidates gain a nationally recognised standard in removing non-hazardous waste, proving their occupational competence in handling waste safely and efficiently.
