CSCS stands for Construction Skills Certification Scheme. That is both the programme name and the name of the organisation that oversees certification of workers. In all, there are 13 different types of CSCS cards indicating certification in different areas of the construction business. One of those cards indicates you have passed the CITB HS&E test that is the subject of this page. It is possible to hold more than 1 CSCS card, depending on how many types of certification you hold. And keep in mind that without a CSCS card, it is almost impossible to find meaningful construction work in the UK.
