 The Level 3 NVQ in Formwork is designed to assess and certify occupational competence directly within the workplace. Candidates must demonstrate advanced skills, knowledge, and experience in complex formwork tasks, making this qualification ideal for experienced falsework specialists, formworkers, or shuttering carpenters.
This NVQ formally recognizes your expertise as an advanced formworker or shuttering carpenter. 
To qualify, candidates must have experience with one or more proprietary systems, such as Climbing, Jumping, Slip Form, Panel System, or Soldiers and Wailngs, as well as two of the following structures: Stairs, Landings, Ramps, Inclined Structures, Curved or Circular Structures, or Pre-cast Forms.

What to expect from the NVQ

  • To get started you will need to complete our registration form,
  • As a minimum, you will need a copy of your photo ID.
  • The NVQ can be started on any day.

  • Complete your NVQ in 4 – 8 weeks Using our Online Portfolio System
  • Your dedicated NVQ assessor will help you complete:
    1.  A set of knowledge questions – You can write these or have a discussion with your assessor.
    2.  Gain a witness testimony. We will provide you with the document.
    3.  Gather copies of site documents
    4.  Take photos & videos of you carrying out the work on your site.

  • This can be completed in 4 weeks as long as you are prepared to work with your assessor and gather the correct evidence.
  • Once completed you will receive your NVQ diploma which is approved by CITB.

To enrol in the Formwork Level 3 NVQ, you must meet certain requirements.

Candidates should: 

Have prior experience in formwork tasks.

Be familiar with one or more proprietary systems, such as:

  1. Climbing systems
  2. Jumping systems
  3. Slip form techniques
  4. Panel systems
  5. Soldiers and walings
 
Have worked on at least two of the following structures:

  1. Stairs or landings 
  2. Ramps or inclined forms
  3. Curved or circular forms
  4. Precast forms
 
Meeting these prerequisites ensures that you have the background knowledge and skills to complete the qualification successfully.
