The CSCS card is a way to verify that people working on construction sites have the appropriate knowledge and training. This helps prevent on-the-job mishaps that endanger everyone's health and safety. You obtain a CSCS card by taking the CSCS Health, Safety & Environment Test. There are 150 CSCS test centres nationwide including in Chester.

The CSCS Card has enhanced safety on construction sites across the UK. If you don’t have one it will be difficult to find work in the construction industry. To obtain a CSCS Card you must pass a test that demonstrates your knowledge of health and safety issues.
What to Expect in the Test
When you arrive at the Chester Test Centre expect to have your photo taken for security purposes. After a brief wait, the CSCS Test will commence and you will have 45 minutes to answer 50 multiple-choice questions.
What to Take With You
You will not need a pencil, but you will need an acceptable form of identification, typically a UK driving license or passport with photo and signature.
If you don’t have either one you will still be able to take the CSCS Test if you can show 2 alternative forms of ID. Acceptable alternatives include a credit or debit card, a bank statement, or a British Armed Forces ID. See a complete list of alternative IDs here
