What Is The Right CITB Test For You?
Holding the correct CSCS card will enable you to undertake specific types of construction work throughout the UK.
Ultimately, the type of work you are looking to do will be the deciding factor about which CSCS Card is the right one for you.
As each CSCS Card relates to different types of work, they each have specific prerequisites that you must meet in order to hold one. However, one requirement that all CSCS Cards have is that you pass the CITB Health, Safety, and Environment Test.
The CITB Test comes in 3 different levels - all of which can be taken at our Bolton Test Centre.
The 3 levels of CITB Test are:
The Operatives Test
The Specialist Test
The Managers or Professionals Test
To help you decide which the right test is for you, here is some information on each one.
The Operatives Test
If you are looking to hold a CSCS Red Card (Provisional) or a CSCS Green Card (Labourer), then you will need to pass The Operatives Test.
This is the most basic form of CITB test but it is not an easy test and it still requires lots of revision and preparation in order to pass.
The Specialist Test
The Specialist Test is the next level up from the Operatives Test.
It is the test you will have to pass in order to obtain a CSCS Blue Card (Skilled Workers), Red Card (Experienced Workers, Apprentices, or Trainees), or Gold Card (Supervisory).
This is a challenging test to pass without high levels of revision beforehand. If you want to pass first time, be sure to give yourself appropriate preparation time before you sit the test.
The Managers or Professionals Test
The top-level CITB Test is the Managers or Professionals Test.
To obtain a CSCS Black Card (Managerial), Red Card (Technical, Supervisory, or Managerial), or White Card (Academic or Professional) you will need to successfully pass this test.
This is the most challenging of all CITB tests so high levels of revision and preparation will be needed in order to pass it.
