What to Expect in the Test
When you arrive, the on-site staff will check your ID, confirm that you have arranged to take the exam at that time, and then take a photo for your safety. The test itself takes 45 minutes and includes 50 multiple-choice questions. Upon completion, you will receive a certificate of your results.
If you fail the exam, you can register for the next exam three days after the first exam. We also recommend that you purchase review materials to help you prepare for retaking the exam.
You can find revision material at this link. It is strongly advised that you take advantage of these materials, especially if you don’t pass the test the first time. By studying, you will greatly increase your likelihood of earning a passing score.

These include British Armed Forces cards, EU Country cards, credit or debit cards, Trade Union cards, new bank statements, or National Insurance cards. For a complete list of acceptable IDs, please click here.
What to do Before Going to the Test Centre
It is strongly suggested that you spend time revising before going for your test. Of those who fail the test, nearly ¾ neglected to review it before taking the exam. To help you with this, you can find an overview here.

What Are CSCS Cards?
CSCS cards are proof that you have the training and qualifications needed to do your job safely on a construction site. The card shows employers that you are competent and have the knowledge to work safely.
There are different types of CSCS cards, depending on your occupation. For example, there is a card for labourers, one for supervisory staff, and one for management. To get a CSCS card, you need to pass the relevant test for your occupation.
The CITB (Construction Industry Training Board) Health and Safety Test is the most common test that people need to take in order to get their CSCS card. The test is also known as the CITB touch screen test. It is a computer-based test that covers a range of health and safety topics. The test takes 45 minutes to complete, and you need to answer at least 80% of the questions correctly in order to pass.
NVQ Information
If you already have an NVQ (National Vocational Qualification) in construction, you may not need to take the CITB Health and Safety Test. You can find out more about how to get a CSCS card without taking the test here.
